UK businesses to increase hiring volume in 2013

New figures released by LinkedIn today reveal a potential uplift in the hiring market for professional roles.

LinkedIn’s annual Global Recruiting Trends report, which surveyed 340 HR decision makers in the UK, and 3,000 globally, found that a net 27{6060b2de664e4eaa3e7b7e86961ce2c4bbd7a29b6c1097abf8257a4e5b07383e} of UK businesses expect to see an increase in hiring volumes of full and part-time professional employees in 2013 – the highest level since the research began in 2011.

The report also reveals that a net 8{6060b2de664e4eaa3e7b7e86961ce2c4bbd7a29b6c1097abf8257a4e5b07383e} of HR decision makers in the UK have seen an increase in their business’ recruitment budget compared to last year.

David Cohen, Director of LinkedIn Talent Solutions in Europe, the Middle East and Africa commented, “For the third year in a row we’ve looked into the optimism, priorities and challenges experienced by employers worldwide, and this year’s data suggests that hiring for professional positions is on the rise in the UK. It remains a challenging climate for many employers, but our data hints at the first signs of green shoots for UK plc.”

The report also reveals the top priorities and trends keeping UK recruiters awake at night. Internal hiring is high on the agenda for many UK recruiters this year, with over a third (39{6060b2de664e4eaa3e7b7e86961ce2c4bbd7a29b6c1097abf8257a4e5b07383e}) of HR professionals  planning to increase their investment in internal hiring processes, whereas mobile recruiting remains a missed opportunity for many. The research reveals that, globally, organisations that have invested in mobile strategies are seeing the benefits, but despite this only one in ten recruiters (13{6060b2de664e4eaa3e7b7e86961ce2c4bbd7a29b6c1097abf8257a4e5b07383e}) are currently investing adequately in mobile-friendly ways to find, manage and nurture talent.
