European Recruitment

The Monster Employment Index Europe is a monthly gauge of online job posting activity based on a real-time review of millions of employer job opportunities culled from a large representative selection of career web sites and online job listings across Europe. The Index does not reflect the trend of any one advertiser or source, but is an aggregate measure of the change in job listings across the industry.

  • The Monster Employment Index Europe demonstrates year-over-year growth of six percent in May, matching the rate of annual growth recorded in April
  • Germany retains an annual growth of 19 percent for the second consecutive month, Netherlandscontinues to chart the greatest decline in online hiring activity compared to year-ago levels (down 21 percent)
  • Environment, architecture, urbanism notes substantial growth over the year and leads all industries in the Index with opportunities increasing by 23 percent; Public sector, defence community (down six percent) continues to exhibit the steepest annual decline
  • Craft and related trades workers remain in the greatest demand of all occupational groups year-over-year

“The May Index recorded an overall steady rate of annual growth primarily due to more opportunities for workers in architecture and production,” commented Alan Townsend, Vice President of Sales Readiness and Business Operations for Monster Europe. “However, markets like Netherlands and France continue to weigh down the Index and reduced overall consumer and business confidence indicate we are clearly not yet out of the woods.”
